Overview

A campaign is a one-time text message that you send to all your subscribers or to a segment. Every campaign is reviewed by Cobalt before it sends.

Note: Campaigns can only send standard SMS/MMS messages, they are not meant for iMessage blasts.

Get Started

1. Go to Campaigns and click New campaign. Click the name at the top to rename it.

2. Under Who's this going to?, choose All subscribers or a segment. The Recipients number shows how many people can receive the text.

3. Under Write your text, type your message. Personalize adds details such as:

  • Add the subscriber's first name to make it more personal.

  • Add image to assist with engagement. Images can be a JPG, PNG or GIF up to 400KB. The counter shows how many SMS messages the text uses, and a picture makes it an MMS.

  • Leave Append "Reply STOP to opt out." checked.

4. To preview it, click Send a test to my phone, enter your number and click Send.

5. Click Schedule & send. Choose Send now, or choose Schedule and pick a date and time. Then click Send now or Schedule campaign.

6. Cobalt reviews the campaign. Until then it shows as Pending Cobalt Approval on the Campaigns page, and you cannot edit it.

What happens next

Once approved, a campaign set to Send now goes out within about a minute, and a scheduled one goes out at its selected time. The campaign status changes to In Progress, then Sent. Open the campaign to see Sent, Clicked, Ordered, Revenue and Conversations data as it begins to reach your subscribers.

Helpful Information

  • Cobalt sends each text between 9 am and 8 pm in the subscriber's local time and holds it until then if the campaign is sent too late/early.

  • Safe send is on by default. It skips anyone who already got a campaign text in the last 8 hours.

  • If a campaign shows "Content blocked - SHAFT policy violation", reword the flagged terms and save it again.
