Overview
Once you install the Cobalt app, Cobalt and Shopify share some information automatically. The options named below are in Integrations > Shopify > Settings.
From Shopify to Cobalt
SMS subscribers: people who subscribe to SMS marketing in Shopify and are added to Cobalt, when the "Sync your Shopify" SMS subscribers to Cobalt is enabled.
Customer names: Cobalt fills in a subscriber's missing name from the matching Shopify customer. A Shopify customer alone never becomes a subscriber.
Orders: Orders are tracked in various methods including the order flow trigger "Placed an Order", we use this to understand how customers are interacting on your site for further automations. When an order is abandoned for example, our text messages will stop once the order is fully paid. We will count the order as revenue for that particular message if successful as well.
Refunds and cancellations: taken off that revenue in Insights.
Checkouts: a checkout not completed within about 60 minutes counts as abandoned and can start an Abandoned checkout flow.
Store visits: Cobalt turns on visitior tracking when you install. Visits, product views and add to cart can start Visited your site, Viewed a product and Abandoned cart flows for subscribers Cobalt recognizes.
Products: only products you add in Brand Center > Product Catalog or that come up in a conversation. These are kept up to date automatically.
Customer segments: When you click the button "Sync Shopify Segments" on the Segments page, this brings in your Shopify customer segments, matched to your subscribers by phone number and refreshed daily. They are read-only in Cobalt.
From Cobalt to Shopify
Emails: new emails from popups and web forms are added as Shopify customers, this feature must be enabled for the sync to occur.
SMS consent: sign-ups from popups and web forms mark the Shopify customer with the same phone number as subscribed to SMS marketing, when Forward SMS marketing consent status to Shopify is enabled. Sign-ups at checkout are always sent to Shopify.
Discount codes and store credit: Dynamic and Shared discount codes, and Store Credit rewards, are created in your Shopify store.
What does not sync
Opt-outs: a STOP in Cobalt does not change the customer in Shopify, and unsubscribing in Shopify does not opt anyone out of Cobalt.
Earlier subscribers: Shopify SMS subscribers from before you installed Cobalt are not brought over in bulk. Import them with a CSV file.
Shopify customer tags.
Shipping and delivery updates.
