Overview

Settings > Phone Numbers lists your iMessage number and your SMS numbers: 10DLC, Toll-Free, Short Code and RCS. Each row has a status that tells you whether that number is sending, waiting or disabled.

What each status means

  • Enabled: The number is live and is able to send messages.

  • Pending: The phone number is not yet available from the carrier but should be added to account soon. This status applies to both the iMessage phone number and a standard number such as 10DLC or Toll-Free. For timing, see How Long Does Account and Number Approval Take?

  • Disabled: The phone number has been turned off, for example after a plan was cancelled.

  • A dash: Nothing has been set up for that row. A 10DLC row shows a dash until a 10DLC number is requested or chosen during setup, and a Toll-Free row shows one if you instead chose a 10DLC during setup and have no toll-free number.

Why only one SMS number reads Enabled

You can hold a toll-free number, a 10DLC number and a short code at the same time, but Cobalt sends from only one of them. That one reads Enabled and the others read Inactive. iMessage runs alongside your SMS number, so it has its own status.

Helpful Information

A Short Code & RCS row with an Upgrade button means your plan does not include these options and an plan change is required. Both Short Code and RCS require additional information before we can submit to the carriers. Our team will reach out you to gather this information.
