Set Up Your Stripe Integration

Connect your Stripe account, create a payment link, and see who has paid it.

Overview

The Stripe integration connects your own Stripe account so you can create payment links and send them in a text. Customers will receive your message and click to pay their invoice on a private stripe checkout after clicking the link. Cobalt does not take a cut of this payment, so your business keeps 100%. The money flows directly into your Stripe account for withdrawal.

Get Started

1. Go to Integrations, open Stripe, and click Connect your Stripe account. Approve the connection in Stripe.

2. Back in Cobalt you'll see "Stripe connected successfully." The Connected account card shows Test mode or Live mode. Click Create a payment link.

3. Fill in the form under Tools > Payment Links:

  • Service Name / Product Name: What the customer is paying for. Required.

    • Example (eCommerce): T-Shirt (large / blue)

    • Example (service): HVAC 1 year maintenance package

    • Example (service): Lawn service for Oct 2026

  • Description: Shown to the customer on the Stripe checkout page. Optional.

  • Amount and Currency: The price, in USD, CAD, EUR or GBP. Required.

  • Product URL: Optional, for your own tracking. The customer does not see it.

4. Click Create payment link. You'll see "Payment link created." Copy the link and send it to your customer in a text.

5. Track it under Payment link history, which shows Awaiting payment, Paid or Archived with a payment count and total.

Click the three dots on a row to Copy URL, View payments, Archive or Delete.

To see payments made on this invoice, click "View Payments". A modal will appear of previous customer payments.

Helpful Information

  • A link can be paid more than once and stays Paid after the first payment. Totals count successful payments only, not refunds.

  • View payments appears once a link has been paid, and a paid link can only be archived: "This link has already been paid, so it can only be archived."

  • Archive and Delete stop the link from taking payments. Delete cannot be undone.

Troubleshooting

"We couldn't connect your Stripe account":

The message under it gives the reason. If it says the account is already controlled by another platform, connect a different Stripe account, or contact Stripe support to release platform control of it. Stripe does not let a second platform connect to an account another platform manages.

Shopify stores: Stripe and Tools > Payment Links are not offered to accounts with a connected Shopify store.
