Create a Popup

A popup is a signup window on your website that invites visitors to join your text list. Our easy to use wizard walks you through each step, and once completed you can always go back and update again.

1. Go to Popups and click Create new popup. Click Next after each step, which also saves your progress.

2. Template: choose a template.

3. Theme: set Colors, Border radius and Fonts. Use brand colors and Use brand fonts.

4. Logo: click Upload logo or Library. You can add a background image too (JPG or PNG, up to 1MB).

5. Floating button: choose where a small button waits after the popup is closed, such as Bottom left.

6. First step: choose what visitors see first.

This is helpful to ask for additional information, or to add a bit of gamification to your popup such as introducing a Spin to Win or Mystery Box reward.

7. Email and phone collection: turn Email collection on or off. Phone Number Collection is always on.

8. Reward: choose Select a reward or click Create a reward, then choose Show discount code immediately or Email discount code.

9. Opt-in type: phone visitors tap a button that texts your number. For desktop visitors, choose QR Code or Join Text.

10. Triggers: new popups start with After 5 seconds. Click Add a trigger to choose Time delay, Exit intent, Scroll depth or Build a trigger, then click Finish.

Your popup is saved as Disabled. On the Popups page, open the menu on its row and click Enable to make it Active.

Shopify stores: Popups appear only on your Shopify storefront, through the Cobalt Popup app embed in your theme. If you switch themes, click Re-enable popup in the banner Cobalt shows.
